CAFKA - Contemporary Art Forum Kitchener and Area is an artist-run organization that produces an international biennial exhibition of art projects in the public spaces of the Region of Waterloo. Through the exhibition, lectures, tours and related special events, CAFKA develops opportunities to learn about contemporary art and participate in its making, creating memorable experiences and contributing to the creation of an engaging, animated and stimulating urban environment.

 

CAFKA maintains a permanent office in the Globe Studios and during SURIVIVE. RESIST., has a temporary office in the Sandhills wing (King and College Streets) at Kitchener City Hall.

CAFKA, along with Open Ears Festival of Music and Sound and IMPACT (International Multicultural Platform for Alternative Contemporary Theatre) is part of the Three Festivals of Contemporary Art in the Region of Waterloo during 2011.

CAFKA is also a partner in KitchenerON. With the support of the Downtown Kitchener BIA and the Waterloo Regional Tourism Marketing Corporation, CAFKA joined in with four other local arts groups including IMPACT, KOI Music Festival , THEMUSEUM and The Society for Science, Literature and the Arts to combine efforts and collaborate to present our events under one marketing banner between September 17 through 25, 2011.
