Last night, CAFKA participated in Steel Rail Sessions 2011. Organized by RQ Magazine's Hilary Abel and Neal Moogk-Soulis of the Waterloo Central Railway, the Steel Rail Sessions is an art party on the train running between Waterloo and St. Jacobs, Ontario. The event featured great food, great music and great art installations and performances on each car.

The CAFKA car featured Preloved Actions by performance artist Johannes Zits. In this work, Zits' manipulates clothing once worn by others, to contemplate the bodies that may have at one time filled those clothes. Zits' manipulations and interactions with clothing often confound their original intent as physical covering and fashion statements. Over the course of a performance a single item of clothing may be interpreted and worn in a variety of different ways, challenging and reinventing clothing as a medium of concealment and expression.

Johannes Zits was accompanied in the performance by Miranda EJ Warner and by the percussionist An-D.

CAFKA's participation in Steel Rails 2011 is made possible in part through a grant to the Contemporary Art Forum Kitchener & Area by the Ontario Trillium Foundation. The Contemporary Art Forum Kitchener and Area is supported by Ontario Trillium Foundation, the City of Kitchener, Musagetes, the Canada Council and the Ontario Arts Council.
