Doug Kirton: Still Water & Rain at KW|AG

In a practice spanning over 20 years, Doug Kirton has focused on the intersection of several themes: meaning in the photographic medium; modern architectural structures; and the nature and language of metaphor. The paintings featured in Still Water and Rain were inspired by Kirton's fascination with the unexpected and exaggerated images reflected in the windows of rainy city streets and bodies of water. Like the water which transforms everyday imagery into a fleeting virtual world, Kirton paints an uncanny version of a landscape transformed by photographic, digital, and painterly processes.
