Two giant masks - one of Elon Musk and another of Mark Zuckerberg accompanied by bright yellow-green text saying: MONSTER PAGEANT PARADE. 1-2pm, October 19th.

Join our parade on October 19th from 1:00 to 2:00pm. The parade will start at the corner of King St W and Victoria St S (across from Google) then move to Gaukel Block.

Lauren Prousky, Erika Lui, and Kez Vicario-Robinson will animate the over-inflated faces and slug-like-suits of the Musk, the Zuck, and the Bezos! While these billionaire-monsters survey our community for new prospects of land, we the people will gather to protest their very existence. Don’t let the Monsters of our time keep you quiet! Join in joy and come in solidarity. The narrative or concept of this parade, protest, and performance is to find humour and healing in times when Monsters are oppressing resilience, laughter, and beauty.

The “Monster Pageant” is an ongoing project in development and envisioned by artist Stephanie Florence. This humorous “pageant” will pit the current Monsters of our time—Billionaires, Climate Crises, Fast Fashion, and Petrochemical Products—against each other in competitive performance duels. These showdowns will be inclusive of many artist types, from multimedia artists and musicians, to drag queens, dancers, rappers, acrobats, visual artists, singers, comedians, etc. Inter Arts Matrix first exhibited Monster Pageant during the deSpectacle Festival 2025 in a performance and workshop called Billionaires Workshop (where’s my hair?).

Thank you to our funders for supporting the Monster Pageant: the City of Waterloo Arts Grants, the Arts Fund and the Fung Family Fund, both held at Waterloo Region Community Foundation.
