Open Ears Artistic Director, Gregory Oh:

A passel of years ago, my group Toca Loca was thinking about touring Australia and New Zealand. We never made it, but as we were researching the possibilities I got to know Erik Griswold's amazing percussion writing - aptly described as the place where music and kinetic sculpture merge.

This performance of Spill by Vanessa Tomlinson created a bit of an obsession for me, so I'm quite ecstatic that Ryan Scott, one of Canada's great percussionists (a particular area of strength for Canucks), has agreed to come and perform his version of the piece on May 31st. The photo by Ken Straiton is from his proof-of-concept performance at Gallery 345."

Ryan Scott will perform Erik Griswold's Spill on May 31st during Open Ears' Between the Ears program, 5:00 to 6:30 pm in the Kitchener Civic Square. Spill will be performed in the Kitchener City Hall Rotunda.
