The "Incidental Park Zones" project uses humour to convey the message that each of us can be a park. Artist John Marriott has created a brief inspirational video and instructional postcards that encourage each of us to be sociable with strangers and to have fun while doing it. With the slogan "Be a part, be a park" this multi-media project casts a comic yet sincere light on issues of individual participation in the community by encouraging viewers to go downtown and strike curious poses and to await puzzled inquiries from passersby.

John Marriott is a multi-disciplinary artist, writer, curator and graphic designer. His art has been seen in exhibitions, screenings, publications and performances nationally and internationally. In 1996 his work was featured in a solo exhibition at The Power Plant in Toronto.
