In the 1980s the Canadian Government ordered the removal of merry-go-rounds because of the accidents they provoked. In Mexico they became obsolete. In the same decade the social movements characteristic of the 60's and 70's lost strength, Mexico defined to get into Neoliberalism, Berlin's wall fell down and ATARI opened opportunities for electronic family entertainment. The shadow of an absent merry-go-round marks the transition between a mechanic and interpersonal relations age and an electronic and interface relation age with a big lack of human and social movement.

Born in 1972 in Guadalajara, México, architect in 1995, Jorge Ramirez' work is largely site-sensitive sculptural interventions. He deals with notions absence, contradiction, the void, memory and possibility. He has shown his work in exhibitions in Guadalajara, Lovaina B…LGICA and Santiago de CHILE. He is the recipient of numerous grants and prizes in Mexico.
