The history of Upper Canada includes centuries of fur trade activity prior to the Baldwin Act of 1849. Fur Offset Staff acknowledges that fur trade history, while referencing the later surveys that partitioned the wilderness and created the townships of today. Beside Fur Offset Staff hangs a portrait of our Monarch that is constructed entirely of fur entirely of the "spoils of the colonies."
Marianne Corless is an artist living and working in Victoria. Her first solo exhibition Further opened in Calgary in 2003, and travelled to several artist-run centres across Canada including venues in Vancouver, Toronto and Halifax.
