Inspired by Eadweard Muybridge's legendary photographs of animals in motion, the Post-Critical Zoetrope re-animates formerly de-animated material by compiling a short video of Muybridge's original images. Screened on a computer monitor that spins in circles with the help of a mechanical arm, the monitor seems to keep pace with the action on the screen (in this case, a horse and rider), and so gives back some of the life inherent to the original source of Muybridge's observation.
